The former Army soldier from Racine who bolted into North Korea last year is no longer in the Army.
Travis King pleaded guilty to desertion and other charges in a military court on Friday. A judge then sentenced him to time served, and dishonorably discharged him from the service. King ran into North Korea last year to avoid being sent home for a fight he’d gotten into in South Korea. He spent a few months in North Korean custody before being sent back to the U.S. He’s been in military custody in Texas ever since.
