On Friday, September 20, 2024 at approximately 6:39 p.m. the Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office along with the Augusta Police Department responded to the 500 block of Camp Rd. in the Village of Fairchild for a single UTV crash with injury. Upon arrival on scene a passenger in the UTV who was ejected from the UTV was being treated by Fairchild Rescue and Mayo Ambulance. The passenger was later transported by Mayo One to a local hospital, with life threatening injuries. The operator was treated at an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash. The investigation is still ongoing and none of the names of the involved parties will be released at this time.
