A Milwaukee man who fled to Ireland to escape a January 6th prison term could be looking at more time behind bars.
Paul Kovacik went to Ireland looking for political asylum after being sentenced for being inside the Capitol on January 6th. He was supposed to report to prison for a three-month sentence last year, but went overseas instead. He came back last month after feeling homesick. He was immediately arrested and sent to a federal prison in Minnesota. He is serving that three month sentence and is due out in September, but federal prosecutors say he may face more prison time because he fled to Ireland.
