The danger appears to be over in Waupaca County where the Manawa Millpond Dam looked like it was going to fail.
The city’s fire chief yesterday said the dam at the millpond is holding. Storms dumped five inches of rain on Manawa on Friday, and the city evacuated about 100 people who lived near the dam. Now, Chief Josh Smith says they are focusing on cleaning-up. He says that will take a while. Many people who live in Manawa say their basements are flooded, and they’re not sure how long it will take to pump the water out.
