Chippewa Falls wants to get the rest of its lead pipes out of the ground.
The city council is moving ahead with a plan to spend a million-dollars to remove lead pipes that connect to people’s homes. Chippewa Falls has already removed most of the public lead pipes in town. Public Works director Brandon Cesafsky says the idea is to incentivize homeowners to sign-up and replace their lead pipes. He said there aren’t any requirements right now, though he says those may be coming in the future.
