A task force focusing on missing and murdered African American women and girls will be created in the Wisconsin Legislature.
The Assembly Committee on Criminal Justice and Public Safety approved the task force’s creation Wednesday. Assemblywoman Sheila Stubbs, a Democrat representing Dane County, said she wrote the proposal for the task force to try and address racial disparities in violent crime. Senators Jesse James and LaTonya Johnson, along with Representative Michael Schraa, co-authored the approved proposal.
