Small Business Saturday was created and is promoted by credit card giant American Express and fits with what many local communities do all year. Dane Buy Local Executive Director Paula Severson says people shifting ten-percent of their shopping from national chains to local businesses can keep an extra 173-million dollars in the local economy.
