Flamingo’s in the Dairyland

There are no plans to rescue the flamingos that found themselves in Port Washington last week.

The State’s Department of Natural Resources says it is rare for flamingos to end up this far north, but there won’t be an effort to collect the birds and send them back south. Researchers figure that the birds which are usually in the southern part of the country were diverted by Hurricane Idalia. Twelve states have now reported seeing flamingos with Wisconsin being the furthest north. The DNR says when the weather up here starts to turn colder the birds will most likely just fly home.
