Suspect on the Run Following Domestic Incident

On Saturday, September 23th , 2023, at approximately 11:45pm, the Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office
responded to the 3200 block of W Cameron St, in the Township of Union, for a report of a physical domestic disturbance involving a firearm. Upon arrival, deputies contacted the female victim and a child outside.

The victim reported that the suspect, Mitchell Henke, 28 years old, threatened to kill her and the child, pistol whipped her and physically assaulted her. She was able to flee the residence with the child and call 911. The victim reported Henke ran back into the residence and that a 2 year old child was still inside with him. The Eau Claire County Regional SWAT Team was activated to assist at the scene.

During the operation, the 2 year old child was rescued through a bedroom window and attempted negotiations continued for several hours. Ultimately, entry was made into the residence by SWAT and Henke was not located. It is believed he fled the residence prior to law enforcement’s arrival, leaving the child behind. The firearm used during the assault was not located.


The victim was treated at a local hospital. Henke is wanted for several felony charges. He is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached. If you have information regarding his whereabouts,
