A handful of Republican lawmakers want to start the impeachment process against Wisconsin’s elections chief.
Five state representatives yesterday filed articles of impeachment against Meagan Wolfe for her time as administrator at the Wisconsin Elections Commission. The lawmakers say they want to remove Wolfe because she has ‘failed to adhere’ to existing laws, and because they want to save taxpayer money from a lawsuit that could come from the Wisconsin Senate’s effort to fire Wolfe . State Rep Janelle Brandtjen, who has been one of Wolfe’s loudest critics, is leading the impeachment push. It remains to be seen just how far the impeachment will go.
Assembly Speaker Robin Vos would have to send the impeachment proposal to a committee, and he has not done that yet.
