Two areas in Wisconsin are getting part of a billion dollars in federal grant money to plant trees.
The U.S. Forest Service says the grants look to expand the tree canopy, which cleans the air and filters heat in the summer. The City of Milwaukee will get 12 million dollars to plant and maintain trees in disadvantaged communities. Dane County is getting one-and-a-half million. The Dane County grant also includes a proposal for creating a youth tree crew.
