Prosecutors are moving ahead with the case against the 18-year-old charged with causing the explosion at last October’s bonfire in Shawano County.
A judge yesterday entered a not guilty plea for Samuel Armstrong. He’s facing 13 felony counts of injury by negligent handling of explosives or fire charges. Investigators say Armstrong seriously hurt several people when threw a partially filled 55-gallon plastic drum of fuel into a bonfire. The drum exploded. One of the people hurt suffered second- and third-degree burns on 40-percent of their body. Armstrong is looking at nearly 40 years in prison if convicted. He’s due back in court in December.
