The 81-year-old Eau Claire man accused of killing his wife says he doesn’t want a lawyer.
John Berthold was in court yesterday. He told the judge he doesn’t want any legal representation, though the judge told him to meet with a lawyer anyway. Investigators say Berthold admitted to beating his 77-year-old wife to death back in July. He says he killed her because she was a narcissist, and because he couldn’t take it anymore. Berthold is due back in court next week.
