Milwaukee Revisits School Resource Officers Debate

Milwaukee Public Schools are worried about the cost to bring school resource officers back into school buildings.

The city’s school district yesterday said it could cost one million-dollars to add the 25 resource officers that would be required in the new shared revenue plan from Wisconsin lawmakers. School board president Marva Herndon says MPS will not stand for it. Republicans at the Capitol say bringing school resource officers back into school buildings will better protect kids. Milwaukee Public Schools cut ties with their school resources officers after George Floyd’s death back in 2020.
