The Republicans who will write Wisconsin’s new state budget aren’t wasting much time.
The legislature’s Joint Finance Committee will meet this week to start voting-out pieces of Governor Evers’ plan. Lawmakers tomorrow are expected to slash spending for the governor’s office, the state’s Election Commission, and the State Fair among other things. The committee is looking to finish a new, two-year state budget by the end of the month. It’s still not clear just what all will be prioritized, or just how much the plan will cost.
