The young Dane County man convicted of killing his parents back in 2021 has had two of his convictions tossed, but his sentence won’t change.
A judge yesterday dismissed Chandler Halderson’s convictions for hiding his parents’ corpses. Wisconsin law doesn’t allow someone to be convicted of two crimes if one of them is considered a lesser crime. Hiding a corpse is a lesser crime than murder. Halderson is serving a life sentence for killing his parents, then hiding their remains at the family cabin.
He will continue to serve that sentence even after yesterday’s dismissals.
