Wisconsin’s governor wants over two-and-a-half billion-dollars more for public schools in the state.
Governor Evers released his education budget preview yesterday. In addition to a lot more money, the governor wants a statewide free school lunch program, a new focus on student mental health, and a look at student literacy before the fourth grade. The governor has proposed many of the ideas in the past, and the Republicans who control the state legislature have shot them down. Republican lawmakers are expected to do the same with almost all of the governor’s suggestions this year as well.
