Brett Favre is suing over what a couple of sportscasters said about him and the Mississippi welfare fraud case he’s caught-up in.
Favre yesterday sued Fox Sports’ Shannon Sharpe and ESPN commentator and podcast host Pat McAfee for defamation. Favre is also suing Mississippi’s State Auditor. Favre’s lawsuit says Sharpe and McAfee made ‘egregiously false’ statements, and used ‘outrageous falsehoods’ when talking about the case. Both men essentially said Favre stole from the poor. Favre is accused of colluding with former Mississippi welfare officials to funnel welfare money to Southern Mississippi University, and he’s accused of taking some of that money for speeches he never gave.
Favre has never been charged with a crime, and repaid the money for the speeches.
