Evers Selects New DHS Lead

News | February 7, 2023 | 0 | by Morgan McCarthy

Milwaukee’s former public health boss is Governor Evers’ new pick to head the state’s Department of Health Services.

Governor Evers yesterday named Kirsten Johnson as his new Health Secretary. Johnson worked in Ozaukee County before moving to Milwaukee during the worst of the coronavirus. She helped oversee the city’s response to the virus. She recently quit, citing a lack of respect from city leaders in Milwaukee. The governor says Johnson’s ‘wealth of experience’ makes her perfect for the job.

The Wisconsin Senate will vote on her nomination some time this spring.
