The individual income tax filing season started today, and the Wisconsin Department of Revenue (DOR) is set to help taxpayers with their preparation and filing questions.
New this year, anyone who has previously filed a Wisconsin individual income tax return may register as a personal user and use the My Tax Account (MTA) management portal to manage their income tax and homestead credit accounts, make payments, view letters, and review balances and other account information.
Individuals can add an extra layer of personal information security by registering for a Wisconsin Identity Protection PIN within MTA. The Wisconsin IP PIN is specific to the individual requesting it, and once the PIN is registered it must be used on any 2021 and 2022 Wisconsin tax return or homestead credit claimed filed during the 2023 calendar year.
DOR’s customer service call center will again this year extend its hours to 5:45 p.m. to best assist taxpayers with questions, concerns, and issues. Call Center hours will be extended on:
- January 25
- January 26
- April 4
- April 6
- April 11
- April 13
