Baseball legend Sal Bando has passed away.
A statement from the Milwaukee Brewers said Bando was in major league baseball for 16 years and spent his last five seasons with the Brewers as their third baseman. After his playing career ended, Bando joined the front office and became the Brewers’ general manager in 1991. Before moving to Milwaukee, Bando was a four-time All-Star player and team captain for the Oakland Athletics, helping the team win three consecutive World Series’ from 1972 to ’74. Sal Bando died Friday in Oconomowoc after a long battle with cancer. He was 78.
