Marijuana leads to an arrest for a Chicago man.
Derone Smith L, 34 years of age, from Chicago IL has been arrested by the Wisconsin State Patrol Eau Claire Post for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 1st offense, with two children in the vehicle under the age of 16.
On 1/18/23 at approximately 8:38 AM a Wisconsin State Trooper stopped a west bound vehicle for speeding on I-94 near MM 116 in Jackson County. Upon approach the Trooper detected the odor of marijuana. The driver, Derone Smith from Chicago, IL, was tested and subsequently arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs and for possession of marijuana. Passengers in the vehicle included 3 adults and 2 children. The children in the vehicle were 2 and 3 years old.
