A Sparta man who killed his grandfather with an ax will never take a free breath again.
A judge yesterday sentenced 38-year-old Thomas Aspseter to life in prison without the possibility of parole. The judge called him ‘ selfish, remorseless human being with almost no redeeming qualities’ when he handed down the sentence. A jury convicted Aspseter of killing his grandfather and attacking two other relatives in June of 2021. Prosecutors say Aspseter was mad because his grandfather wanted him to leave his home.
