Shopko is filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, saying it has nearly a half-a-billion-dollars in debt. WBAY-TV says the Ashwaubenon-based retailer plans to close 38 stores and relocate 20 optical centers to freestanding locations.
It will conduct an auction for the pharmacy business. It’s not yet known which stores will close.
