Red Cross workers in Madison are planning to strike during the year’s largest blood drive.
AFSCME, which represents workers in Madison’s Red Cross offices, says its members voted to walk off the job on December 23rd, just in time to disrupt the Red Cross’s 37th annual Holiday Blood Drive. Union leaders are demanding more money, but say the Red Cross isn’t offering any. The Holiday Blood Drive is the Red Cross’ largest blood drive of the year.
The strike threat comes as Wisconsin blood banks are looking at a blood shortage.
