Madison Kicks Off Guaranteed Income Program

Madison has sent its first 500 dollar guaranteed income checks.

Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway yesterday said 150 low income families are going to get 500 dollars each month for the next year.  The money has no strings attached, so people can spend it on whatever they want.  Rhodes-Conway says the idea is to help low income families by giving them some flexibility.  The guaranteed income program will cost Madison nearly a million-dollars over the next 12 months.
