A former grocery store in Monona has been added to the National Register of Historic Places.
The building on Monona Drive with the curved roof and the glass façade is now a Habitat for Humanity ReStore. It was built in 1968 and was a Kohl’s Food Store until 1985, and has the signature design of the Kohl’s Food Store chain from the 1950s and ’60s. The Wisconsin Historical Society says the building is “an excellent representative of mid-century Contemporary architecture.”
