It was time to move on.
That’s how the University of Wisconsin’s athletic director is framing the decision to fire football coach Paul Chryst. The school announced Chryst was out last night. Defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard will take over as interim head coach. Chryst went 67-26 in his eight seasons with the Badgers, including a disappointing 2-3 start this season. Moving-on from Chryst won’t be cheap, however.
His contract includes a buyout clause worth nearly 20 million-dollars. But UW officials say the actual size of the buyout is much smaller. The university, however, didn’t offer the actual price tag yesterday.
