State records show a history of problems at that Waukesha school at the center of a child abuse investigation.
Wisconsin’s Department of Children & Families’ website shows 59 violations at the Lawrence School since January of 2020. The violations include everything from health and safety standard problems to one case where workers found a loaded gun inside the school’s office. The state has revoked the school’s license. Police began investigating the school after a report that a teacher slammed a special needs child into a crib mattress then held him there until the boy started to wheeze. That teacher, and three others who didn’t report the abuse were all arrested last week.
