One person is dead and another injured following a two-vehicle crash in Vernon County.
Police say a van, driven by 32-year-old Mary Cano of Gays Mills, was driving eastbound on State Highway 131 when she was about to turn left into a private driveway. Cano reportedly did not see a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction. The motorcycle driver, 35-year-old Kevin Fleming, of Des Moines, Iowa, and his 31-year-old female passenger were thrown off. Fleming was later pronounced dead at the hospital while the passenger suffered “substantial injuries.” Cano and her infant passenger were unhurt.
