Both sides of the political fence are looking ahead as the inauguration of governor-elect Tony Evers takes place today.
Democratic strategists believe the governor’s inauguration represents hope, expecting that Evers will deliver on his campaign promises. On the other side of the ticket, Republicans believe Evers will focus on education and transportation. Officials from both sides agree that bipartisanship between the incoming governor and the Legislature is needed.
Here on our local political scene we see the two newest members of the state legislature are now sworn in to office. Jodi Emerson and Jeff Smith took the oath of office Friday at the Eau Claire County Courthouse. Emerson is representing the 91st Assembly District, while Smith is a state Senator for the 31st District.
