Republican Tim Michels is pouring millions of his own money into his run for governor.
Since April he has donated nearly eight million dollars of his own money to his campaign. He spent almost seven-point-seven million dollars since entering the race, mostly on television and digital advertising. His campaign finance report shows he has stuck to his promise of only accepting donations of up to 500-dollars from individuals. So far, around 600-thousand dollars has been raised from individual donations.
Michels is virtually tied with opponent Rebecca Kleefisch according to the latest Marquette University Law School poll with the Republican primary set for August 9th.
