Lawmakers Battle Over Pregnancy Resource Funding

Governor Tony Evers won’t authorize funding for pregnancy crisis centers.  On June 29th, state Republican lawmakers sent a letter to the Governor calling for ten million dollars from Wisconsin’s portion of the federal government’s American Rescue Plan Act to go toward supporting crisis pregnancy counseling centers.

The centers typically try to find alternatives to abortion for pregnant women in crisis.  In response, Governor Evers says he won’t allow it because the pregnancy crisis centers don’t have doctors or nurses to provide medical health treatments.
