A sex offender who was on the run from Pepin County was apprehended in Eau Claire.
On Thursday, June 23rd ,the Pepin County Sheriff’s Office reported that registered sex offender, Allen D. Owens, had tampered with his GPS monitoring bracelet and absconded. Owens had just been released from prison on June 7th , 2022.
In the evening hours of June 23rd , Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office Deputies developed information that Owens may have checked into the Days Inn Motel, located at 6319 Truax Lane, in the Town of Union. Deputies began to surveil the location. At approximately 10:45pm, Owens was taken into custody. He was medically cleared at a local hospital before being transferred to the Eau Claire County Jail. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Eau Claire Police Department.
