The Dane County Board of Supervisors approves an investigation involving the Henry Vilas Zoo.
The board voted unanimously Thursday night in favor of appointing a retired judge to look into several allegations made by former employees at the Zoo. The accusers claim zoo management use racist language and neglect proper care for some of the animals. Yesterday, Dane County Executive Joe Parisi had still not signed off on the proposal. Parisi expressed skepticism of the Board’s decision which he says circumvents a public bidding process to select the lead investigator.
