Today could be the day for Milwaukee to finalize its bid for the Republican National Convention.
The city council could vote on the contract with RNC planners today. Though no one is sure what will pass. Several aldermen want a six million-dollar payment to host the convention, others don’t necessarily support the Republican Party. Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson says the six million-dollar demand is a ‘poison pill’ and a ‘non-starter’ with him.
Milwaukee has until the end of the week to finalize its bid for the 2024 convention.

Republican frontrunner Rebecca Kleefisch and Democratic Governor Tony Evers yesterday both announced new TV ads. Kleefisch’s ads focus on public safety and crime, and feature Racine County’s sheriff.
The governor’s ads highlight the millions of dollars he’s spent from the state’s coronavirus stimulus money to help small businesses across the state.
Republican candidate Tim Michels, who did not release new ads yesterday, said the governor’s commercials brag about spending taxpayer dollars to help businesses that the governor harmed when he ordered them shutdown during the coronavirus outbreak.
