Review Indicates Reasonable Use of Force

The Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office has completed the use of force investigation regarding a recent incident in Altoona.

All investigative reports and evidence have been turned over to the Altoona Police Department for administrative review. The Sheriff’s Office has consulted with the District Attorney’s Office and the use of force in this incident was reasonable given the totality of circumstances.

Altoona Police Officer Ed Bell, with nine years in law enforcement, responded to an active threat involving an armed individual.

Officer Bell discharged his firearm one time while facing the threat of harm to himself and another. The suspect, Reginald Jameson, of Eau Claire, was taken into custody and uninjured as a result of the firearm discharge.
