Eau Claire Police arrest one person for a traffic incident that resulted in a shooting.
Just before 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2022, Officers from the Eau Claire Police Department responded to the area of Melby Street and North Hastings Way for a reported shooting. One person was shot after a traffic dispute. Officers located a victim who sustained a single gunshot wound. Officers rendered aid to the victim and worked to control bleeding until Eau Claire Fire Department personnel arrived to provide further care. The victim was transported to a local hospital and later released.
The suspect also called to report the incident and remained on scene. He was identified as Chee K. Thao, 12/13/1988. Chee was arrested and transported to the Chippewa County Jail for felony 1st Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety. No other suspects are being sought.
The investigation is ongoing.
