LaCrosse Looks to Park as Homeless Safe Space

City leaders in La Crosse are opening one of their parks to the homeless.

The city yesterday declared Houska Park as a homeless ‘safe space.’ That means police will not stop homeless people from setting-up camp at the riverfront park. La Crosse will allow the homeless to stay in the park until the end of October, City leaders say they continue to want to find a permanent home for the city’s homeless population.
