One of the suspects in the theft of the Hatched Baby in La Crosse will pay a fine to avoid jail time.
A judge yesterday ordered Matthew Reich to pay just over 66-hundred dollars in restitution as part of a diversion agreement. Reich pleaded no contest to charges that he received stolen property. He was caught last fall with the Blue Baby from the Hatched Baby sculpture that used to sit in front of La Crosse’s city hall. The artist who created the sculpture said the damage to his piece is unrepairable.
