Wisconsin lawmakers are working on plans to keep the state’s waterways clean.
The Joint Finance Committee passed companion bills today that would allocated up to one-point-four-million dollars a year toward keeping farmers’ fertilizers out of waterways. The money would also be used to pay for a new University of Wisconsin System position that would monitor groundwater quality. The bills are supported by many Wisconsin agriculture groups.
