A Minnesota man was stopped for OWI in Eau Claire.
62 year old BYRON HOWARD, has been arrested by the Wisconsin State Patrol Eau Claire Post for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 1st offense, with one child in the vehicle under the age of 16. It was on Monday afternoon just before 3:30 when a Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for speed. A subsequent investigation, including standardized field sobriety testing, showed the driver was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of a controlled substance. He was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of a restricted controlled substance, with a passenger less than 16 years old.
The two-year-old passenger was left in the care of a family member that was with the vehicle.
