The Statue Stays

The Badger statue at the Wisconsin Capitol isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

The Navy yesterday said it will allow the state to keep the statue for another 50 years. There were plans to take the statue from the statehouse and put it in a Navy museum. The statue is made from cannons seized during the Spanish-American War, and was first loaned to Wisconsin in the late 1980s. It’s become a staple at the Capitol since.
