The city of Madison is set to move toward a greener, more sustainable future. At a community panel on Thursday, Madison Fleet Service superintendent Mahanth Joishy detailed how Madison is taking these steps. Joishy pointed to the recent city purchases of three electric Chevrolet Bolt cars and six hybrid Ford Fusion vehicles for the Madison Police Department.
He noted that the city plans to buy more hybrid squad cars in 2019. Joishy also said he anticipates about one-million pounds of carbon dioxide reduction over one year. His comment comes after the department introduced bio-diesel fuel blends to the fleet back in April.
