There’s now talk of a lawsuit if Wisconsin lawmakers change how the Green Bay Packers get money for Lambeau Field.
Green Bay state Rep. David Steffen wants to disband the Stadium District, give some of its money back to taxpayers, and allow the city of Green Bay to take over maintenance and management of Lambeau Field. Packer spokesman Aaron Popkey yesterday told leaders in Green Bay that would bust the lease on the stadium, and lead to an almost immediate lawsuit. Popkey also says changing how the Stadium District works could also mean less money from the NFL itself. Steffen says the Stadium District has served the purpose that lawmakers created it for.
His plan has not yet moved forward at the statehouse.
