Former Minnesota police officer Kim Potter has been found guilty of manslaughter for killing an unarmed man during a traffic stop back in April.
Potter appeared emotionless as the verdict was read yesterday afternoon. She always maintained she shot Daunte Wright by accident when he resisted arrest, mistaking her service weapon for her Taser. She faces over 20 years behind bars. She will remain in custody until she is sentenced in mid-February.
Following yesterday’s decision, Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison said it was his responsibility to seek justice, but stressed that he wants law enforcement to know that this verdict does not diminish them.
