A woman who recently ran for city council in Fitchburg is charged in connection with a deadly crash that killed Wisconsin Public Media director Gene Purcell.
Shawnicia Youmas was charged Tuesday with homicide by negligent driving. Police say Youmas told them Purcell cut in front of her with his motorcycle back in July when she hit and killed him in south Madison. But evidence shows she was driving nearly 35 miles per hour over the speed limit at the time of the crash. Youmas ran for Fitchburg City Council back in February but ended up dropping out. She’ll appear in court on January 6th.
