Lawmaker Gears Up Legislation for Pedestrian Push

One of Madison’s Democratic state senators wants to give cities across the state the power to condemn homes in order to replace them with bike paths.

Senator Melissa Agard yesterday introduced legislation that would empower cities to condemn properties in order to become more bike and pedestrian friendly. Agard says bike paths will help establish Wisconsin as a destination spot for young people and families.

She’s framing her legislation as more local control, which allows cities to do what’s best for them.
