Former Eau Claire County treasurer Larry Lokken will not be getting out of prison early.
An Eau Claire judge this week said Lokken hasn’t made a serious attempt to pay the nearly 700-thousand-dollars he owes to taxpayers and hasn’t accepted responsibility for what he did. Lokken asked to be released early because of his age. He’s got about four years left on a nine-and-a-half year sentence for stealing from county taxpayers.
Prosecutors say Lokken and his deputy stole over a million-dollars between 2011 and 2013. Earlier this summer, a report said Lokken has paid just 18 thousand of the 700 thousand-dollars in restitution that he owes.
