Lawmakers are looking to create a new law that could be called the Rittenhouse law.
Kenosha’s three Democratic lawmakers yesterday introduced a plan to make it illegal for anyone under 18 to carry a rifle or a shotgun unless they are hunting. Prosecutors in Kyle Rittenhouse’s case tried to charge him with illegal possession of a firearm, but that charge was dropped because Wisconsin law allows some teenagers to carry certain rifles and shotguns. Senator Bob Wirch along with Representatives Tod Ohnstad and Tip McGuire said that law was clearly designed for hunting, not carrying a rifle through the streets. They want to “close the loophole.”
